The Dragon Pavilion Voyager —

The Dragon Pavilion brings an expressive dragon, tiered pavilion and flowing ornamental forms into an elongated Type A jadeite sculpture. Its soft celadon-green and grey-white tones offer a restrained backdrop to the carved details, while light passing through the edges brings definition to the silhouette. A distinctive piece for a home, office or personal collection, it pairs architectural interest with the enduring appeal of Chinese dragon imagery.

Material, Texture & Colour /

The jadeite’s moonlit palette brings together pale celadon-green and soft grey-white in gentle tonal transitions. These quiet colours frame the dragon’s profile, pavilion rooflines and curling base motifs, allowing the sculptural details to take prominence.

Under backlighting, the carved edges reveal an ethereal translucency and a soft internal glow, framing the pavilion’s serene celadon-green and grey-white tones. The gentle play of light evokes a sense of glacial depth, inviting the eye to explore the sculpture’s layered forms. Colour and apparent translucency vary with lighting and viewing angle.

Polished contours catch the light along the dragon and pavilion rooflines, bringing definition to their forms. Recessed details and open spaces balance the pavilion’s structured lines with the flowing curves of the surrounding motifs. The composition invites appreciation both for its overall silhouette and for the details revealed on closer viewing.

Why Choose This Piece? /

Choose The Dragon Pavilion for the balance between its expressive dragon, calm architectural centre and gently flowing base. Its pale colour lets the carving lead, offering an understated alternative to more strongly coloured jadeite. Presented by Jade & Lithic Gallery, Singapore, it brings a contemporary gallery perspective to a traditional Chinese subject.

Display / 陈列

Display on a stable, level surface with room to appreciate the elongated silhouette. Soft, diffused light can help reveal the carved details without harsh glare. The wooden support shown in the photograph is a presentation element only.

Certification /

NGI (Nanyang Gemological Institute, Singapore) certification is optional at SGD 100. Requests for other laboratories are subject to confirmation of availability, fees and turnaround time.

Care / 保养

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid impacts, abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals. Support the base and body when moving the sculpture; do not lift it by the dragon head, roof edges or other projecting details.

Educational Perspective: From Rough Jadeite to Sculpture /

A finished jadeite sculpture reveals only the material that remains. Before its forms emerge, the starting rough must accommodate the intended design and the material removed through cutting, shaping and polishing.

For this educational discussion, the estimated finished length of approximately 25–30 cm and an illustrative starting-rough weight of 2–4 kg or more would be required to carve this piece.

1. Dimensional Allowance & Carving Depth /

The rough must allow room for shaping the outline and developing the composition. In relief and openwork carving, depth also provides space for projecting forms, recessed details and openings, while retaining support for delicate elements. The allowance depends on the rough and the design.

2. Rind Removal & Cutting /

Where rough jadeite has a weathered outer skin, removing unsuitable surface material and making initial cuts can reduce the usable size and weight. The extent varies with the condition of the rough.

3. Material Selection & Structural Planning /

Natural fractures, inclusions and colour distribution can influence how a carving is laid out. Planning may involve avoiding weak areas, adapting the design to the stone and balancing visual detail with structural support. Inclusions are not automatically defects to be removed; their role depends on the material and the artistic intention.

These notes explain general carving principles, not a verified production history for The Dragon Pavilion. Finished appearance alone cannot establish original rough dimensions, starting weight, rind loss or material yield. No claim of flawlessness or a particular carving method is made by this educational section.
